Great hat
I now have six of these! First was in orange, which led my wife to say, "Why Orange?" So I bought one in her favorite color, red, then blue, then white, then black, then lime green. Not just because she likes color. The hat is extremely comfortable, light weight, and helps in sweat absorbtion. It also washes up beautifully. I've been running for many years, and very few hats have been right--too stiff, too heavy, hard to clean, no sweat band etc. This one pretty much does it all--and the colors really are great. great for guys with big heads
i'm a guy with an extra large skull whether obese or not, at age 13 i wore a size 8 ball cap like the pro baseball players wear but even those were too short for my head. the hats available at walmart, target etc. aren't for big headed guys especially if you like the hat to stay on your head. this one will hug your head just above your ears rather than have that one inch between the hat and ear and having a light breeze blowing it off your head. This cap looks nice...it's a deep hunter green. I took it on vacation and it held up fine, though I wonder how long it will last. The mesh in back is not plastic but woven fabric that is flimsy. However, it's the same material on a $20 Adidas cap I just bought. Only time will tell its durability. Top to learn more

Does The Trick! Love this cap!
Bought this cap for its promise to wick sweat (which I do A LOT of when I run in Florida) and for its anti microbial properties (silver ions in the liner). It does a great job on both fronts. PLUS ... the cap is very soft and more like a beanie than a traditional baseball cap, which makes it really light and comfortable. It washes well and has done really well for the few months I've had it. I wear it for every run (2-3 times a week) and it gets washed or rinsed everytime. It's holding up very well. have been running in a brooks HVAC hat for over a year now, and ended up buying another one in a different colour to match my new tri race suit. it's slightly different in that the fabric across the top of the hat is "solid" rather than the closed mesh on the brim, and the underside of the bill is self-tone (red, in this case) rather than black. the "solid" fabric does not have any impact on breathability or wicking - it still works perfectly. however, the red underside of the brim does result in slightly more reflected glare than the black of the prior incarnation - hence 4 instead of 5 stars.my main reason for purchasing the original hat holds true with this model - the adjustability of size. 99% of wicking hats will not adjust small enough to fit my head; i end up with bare millimeters of "loop" velcro to which to attach the "hook" side. brooks uses a different type of homogenous velcro (whole strip contains both hooks and loops, so any part will adhere to any other... GREAT TOOL!
I have a huge industrial one just like this, I use it a lot for huge pots of stock but for many things it was way too big. I ordered this smaller version of the same thing and I use it constantly and love it! The size is perfect for daily kitchen use. All my friends borrow it and plan to order one too. It is very sturdy and well made it also washes easily. I use it for stock, removing seeds from cooked fruit and vegies for canning, pies and for making puree or just use as a colander or strainer. It measures from the end of the handle to the end of the strainer 17 1/2'' not including the hook which is another 3/4''. The inside opening of the strainer is 8'' across and the depth top to bottom is 9 1/2''. So even though it is much smaller then I am use too it is not a small strainer it is just the right size. The hook opposite the handle is great to hold this in place over a deep pot or bowl. This is a rigid strainer with no flex so you can use a cone pestle nicely with it. It is a very... Good product; a little bigger than expected so I can't really store it in my cabinets but it does what it is supposed to; for the price, it is a pretty good deal; I am much used to the ones that are a lil thicker metal and heavier but those are supposed to be used for industrial type cooking so this one works well for me in my little kitchen without the extra weight and it serves its purpose. Not fine and not mesh
I wish Amazon would put actual specifications on their web site for products like this. It's hard to tell from the photos just what you are getting. It turns out the so-called "mesh" is actually punched holes in sheet metal. That much one can probably see in the online photo, if you look closely, so it is not my main issue with this item. The main problem is the "fine" part since the holes measure about 1.4mm in diameter, huge in comparison to my real mesh strainer with web spacing of 0.5mm, both measured with a digital vernier caliper, and that is not even my finest mesh. I have another strainer at about 0.3mm that I typically use to skim foam when I first start making a new broth or stock.I think this chinoise strainer is OK for a first pass to get the heavy solids, but I would still want to do a final pass with my 0.5mm strainer for a good clear broth or sauce preparation. On the whole, I decided to return it because my coarse mesh strainer has 1.5mm mesh, so... Top to learn more
