Hilarious
I am a huge Jeff Gordon fan so this book was right up my alley. Maria Bennett takes all the race recaps but from a Jeff Gordon's view point since she is a fan herself. She takes each race and recaps it and then follows it with a hilarious poem. This is must have Christmas gift for all Nascar lovers whether they are Jeff Gordon fans or not.

Lyrical Laps and Laughs
I have not quite finished the book Lyrical Laps and Laughs by Maria Bennett. I am enjoying it very much. I am not really into poetry, but wanted to read the book, because I am a very big fan of Jeff Gordon and Maria is from the area where I live. The poetry was very good and at times I forgot I was even reading poetry. I liked the personal notes she added to the beginning of each chapter. They made the book even more interesting. It was a very good year to write about Jeff since he did so well that year. A great book to give to any Jeff Gordon fan.

A one of a kind treat!
This is a very unique book that I enjoyed reading. The lyrical poems are put together really well, and truly capture the events of the many races that Jeff Gordon was in during the 2007 season. I particularly enjoyed the journaling aspect of the book, which gave a glimpse into the daily life of the author.I think this would make a great gift for any Jeff Gordon fan. I can picture Lyrical Laps and Laughs as a fun talking piece at any NASCAR get together. It definitely has a place on my coffee table during race time.Also, I want to point out how refreshing it is to see a female author covering the sport of car racing. I think Maria Bennett is a great role-model for young female writers.
